The Tikiyaki Orchestra - Aloha, Baby! CD (Future Primitive)
You'll love everything about this exotic music combo – the peppy, uptempo music, as well as the great packaging you’ll find with all of their products. If the incredible, vintage style graphics weren’t enough, you even get a friggin’ cocktail umbrella inside the spine of the CD case! But let’s get back to the music, shall we? The Tikiyaki Orchestra includes 7 musicians, plus occasional guests, all of which bring their influences and interests to the band. You can tell that they don’t simply get together to play Martin Denny style music. While that’s there, you’ll also hear 60’s go-go, 50’s country & western, surf rock, and traditional Hawaiian melodies, as well as the influence of artists and composers like Les Baxter, Combustible Edison, Henry Mancini and Duane Eddy. There are some mellower, laid back songs, but even these sound upbeat. You can sense that the musicians had smiles on their faces while recording this disc. Overall a fabulous disc that should appeal to just about anyone.
