The Routes - Get Past Go LP (Multi-Color Splatter Vinyl) (Otitis Media)
The Routes are back with another strong disc of instrumental rock n’ roll tunes from Japan/UK combo The Routes! That makes 6 releases in two years for this prolific band, and the quality hasn’t dropped a notch with any of the releases. The lead guitar of Chris Jack (who is also their primary songwriter) is the star of the show here, yet there is also some tasty organ work throughout as well. While surf isn’t much of an influence on this disc, the instrumental sound is firmly inspired by the rhythms and crunch of the early-to-mid 60’s, but with modern production giving it a clear, powerful sound. Personal faves on the disc are the title track, the epic closing track “Too Much To Take”, and the vaguely-Ventures inspired “Like A Knife”.
Note: This is pressed on multi-color splatter splatter vinyl and comes with a download card. Every record has different colors and different color patterns, so while the photos shown are representative, you will receive a randomly chosen LP with a variety of colors and patterns.
