Pointbreak - Ming Dynamite CD (Surf Cookie)
One of the few Irish surf bands, Pointbreak make their debut with this fabulous 11-track CD. They aren't a brand new band though - they started in 2014 and have released several EPs, and played hundreds of live shows in Ireland and abroad, honing their craft leading up to the recording of this album. The band members bring in influences of jazz, funk and rockabilly, but it's a late 50's/early 60's instrumental rock n' roll sound that you'll hear most of all with twangy Fender guitar battling with greasy sax, backed by bass and drums. Among their stated influences are Link Wray, The Cramps and Lalo Schifrin. Great tunes and eyecatching cover art!
