Martin Cilia - 6-Track EP CD (Surfersaurus)

This 6-song EP starts of with a cover of the ABBA classic “Mamma Mia” and continues with covers of Mental As Anything, Cliff Richard, Hank Marvin, Hot Butter and one original tune. The Hot Butter song, of course, is the international electronic hit “Popcorn”. While it has been covered fairly often by other instrumental rock artists, this version is excellent, as it’s been given a slinky, galloping rhythm and echoey, twangy guitars. It sounds like what would have happened of The Shadows were told to cover “Popcorn” for use in a spaghetti-western film. Overall this is an awesome EP and will definitely find a welcome spot on the shelf of any Martin Cilia, Shadows or instrumental rock fan.
