10% Of Sales Going To Local & National Organizations

In light of everything going on in the country and world these days, it's time for us to give to organizations that will help move things forward in a positive, healthy way. While Double Crown Records & The Continental Magazine is a business where the income goes towards our home, food, utilities and expenses for our family, it's equally important to give to those working towards social and economic equality throughout the world. As an individual I am working myself to find ways where I can give my time and effort to help, but sometimes what's needed is financial help as well.

Because of this, Double Crown Records & The Continental Magazine will be donating 10% of our profits from this point forward, indefinitely. Initially, funds raised will go towards the following organizations. These may change over time, and we are looking into ways to bring in additional funds to give to these, and other groups.

To start we will be donating to the following:

All Hands & Hearts - An organization that I have personally worked with - my wife and I spent a couple of weeks in Nepal in 2019 helping to rebuild a school destroyed by the 2015 earthquakes. They do incredible work in locations throughout the world, coming in for long term assistance to help rebuild schools, homes and recreational facilities.

Wild Diversity - An Oregon based group helping to "create equitable access to outdoor adventures and education for people of color, queer, trans, and low-income youth.". It's no secret that I've become a huge fan of backpacking and hiking, and it's been unfortunate that when I've hit the trails, there are very few people of color out there. This organization helps remove the economic barrier to hiking and adventuring for many BIPOC & LGBTQ people throughout the Northwest.

ACLU - Their mission statement says it all: "The American Civil Liberties Union was founded in 1920 and is our nation's guardian of liberty. The ACLU works in the courts, legislatures and communities to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed to all people in this country by the Constitution and laws of the United States."

NAACP Legal Defense Fund - "America’s premier legal organization fighting for racial justice. Through litigation, advocacy, and public education, LDF seeks structural changes to expand democracy, eliminate disparities, and achieve racial justice in a society that fulfills the promise of equality for all Americans."

No More Deaths - "The mission of No More Deaths is to end death and suffering in the Mexico–US borderlands through civil initiative: people of conscience working openly and in community to uphold fundamental human rights."

Gift Cards For Pacific Northwest Music Venues - Saving our music venues is important until Covid-19 is a distant memory - it's unfortunately going to take a while though. Many bands on Double Crown have played shows at venues throughout the Pacific Northwest, and most if not all are struggling to get through this. What we'll do to help, in a small way, is purchase gift cards/certificates for some of our favorite, surf-friendly venues, and then give them away to people who live near the venues to enjoy once they re-open.

I fully stand these are definitely troubled times and people have differing viewpoints. We just feel a strong need to give back, and these are all organizations that I currently support and are in need of financial assistance. We won't be raising prices - funds that we donate will just be taken out of profits we receive, and will be donated at the end of each month, starting June 2020.
