Amphibian Man - Path CD (AKL)
This 9-track album has got surf influences and a fair amount of reverb, along with twangy guitars that evoke the feel of some of the best spaghetti western soundtrack music. It’s modern and a bit-prog rock at times, but the songs are nearly all in the 3-4 minute range so they don’t outstay their welcome. It really is music that defies categorization - some of the songs lock into a groove and melody and stay with it, giving them a hypnotic and at times ethereal sound. Their earlier releases had lots crunchy guitar and distortion - this leans far more into the modern surf sound - impressive stuff from this Ukrainian three-piece combo!
